The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

now you cain't swing a dead cat without hittin' a deer or turkey where I'm from...

Personally, I think that is a very good thing! I welcome critters that can adapt to living with us. The alternative is worse. And harder to ever get back.

A belated Good Morning all. I really liked our President's address last night. Did anyone else see it? I thought he hit a home run. It was compassionate conservatism at its best. And he made a very convincing case as to why we must neutralize SoDamnInsane sooner rather than later. It is a difficult road GW has been given, but he is making the right choices IMHO..... God bless GW!

Why "against my better judgement"?

They say the camera adds 10 lbs. I always ask them just exactly how many cameras were they using?.

They convinced me to play a Roman soldier, in a tunic...once.

See what?

Heh! I am gonna guess most of us watched it! It was a good speech. I was able to watch it again later when I wasnt' so distracted by visions of tiger food.

Thanks for the link.

Yer welcome. They told us they were gonna post pics on the church web site, but they haven't. Course the staff has been busy with other stuff.

We're s'posed to be able to buy videos too. I've toyed with the idea of circulating it amongst the interested Hole dwellers...

I would like to lose 30 by this summer, well, OK I'll be realistic. More like 20 would be good. ;^)

We are beginning to seriously plan a June trip to Sweden. My wife has relatives there and we will go with her parents. I want to be able to look half-decent. Right now I am at my highest weight ever, 199. I will not allow myself to hit 200. That is right out! Not allowed.... Nope. No way.... Must get closer to 175-180... And maybe 165-170 by Entmoot? I know, that's dreaming.....

Nothin' like competetion for the top of the chain...

Where I live, the competition comes from two-legged predators from that great preserve of wilderness called "Detroit". They have opposable thumbs, too, and seem to prefer AK47s (much to my relief). An AR15 "shorty" with holographic sight and green-tip ammo keeps it "sporting". I would prefer a M-60, but the state frowns on that.

Out in the countryside, things are more orderly and peaceful, like the Shire. Pest control can be done with a .22, or a shotgun with birdshot. The occasional predator (two or four legs) usually succumbs to buckshot before the constabulary can arrive.

That tiger food deal was one of the weirdest things. I won't look at horses the same any more now, either....

Kinda creepy...

Right now I am at my highest weight ever, 199.

Sheesh Vim! I haven't been there since the 7th grade.

Our choir is planning next summer to take our Easter production (I think) to London, Vienna and Slovakia. In addition to getting in better shape for health reasons, I have to be able to fit in one seat!

Sorry I'm so late getting in here this morning!

I was catching up on the SoTU speech thread since I couldn't get online last night. :)

Breakfast would be a little late right now for the East Coasters, so I'll make it elevenses!

Bacon, egg and cheese biscuits; fruit salad( mostly melon); beef/ vegetable stew (too warm up cold bones) and club sandwiches (ham, turkey, roast beef with swiss cheese and bacon strips on french bread).

Coffee is brewed and ready to serve, along with juices, hot cocoa and various soft drinks. ENJOY!

g'nad - I'm so happy to see you pop in! Visit more often, will ya? Please?

The President's speech last night was absolute FReeptastic! I could have passed on the gobs of money he wants to spend on more programs, but I understand that it is necessary. Besides, I didn't disagree with any of the programs in and of themselves. Especially the mentoring program for children of imprisoned parents - let's stop the vicious circle! :)

Mornin' Ruthy. Thanks for the vittles.

Yeah, I was wonderin' where W was gonna get all that money. But he did manage to take away the Rats' issues.
