Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

DT, you just made my day. Now, I'm off to class.... last one before final exam for this class, then I get a few days off.
YEAH!
To: g'nad
Thoughts and prayers with you and the missus. Both of our pregnancies were high risk with my wife spending time in the hospital.
Take care of her. And yourself.
To: g'nad
Nice honest snaig.
To: Corin Stormhands
Thanks bro... we're not too worried right now, but it's always on the mind...
To: Lil'freeper
Thanks... I'm sure we'll be okay...
To: Alkhin
I just read your blog. Very well done Alkhin!
But shouldn't your link to the Hobbit Hole be a little more prominent? ;^)

mmmm.... it's my phone at home that I don't have working. And since Myranda and I both have cell phones in case of emergency.... and I haven't had a paycheck since Dec 16 I'm waiting to get the line fixed. In the mean time, ya'll hear from me when I have spare moments at work. Which obviously isn't often enough.
But! Friday is payday. All things will be better soon thereafter!

I think maybe it has always been usual for the English armed forces to include men from conquered nations. 'Course in the early 1800's the English Navy even "impressed" American sailors.
To: Wneighbor
Oh...okay. Don't you just hate infrastructure problems?

RE: post 10269...
I've got a TON of catching up to do and you go and post this giant picture from the pirates that has nothing to do with Tolkien...FORCING me to look at it...
To: g'nad
It's funny, the part of VA I grew up in, there's lots more wildlife now than when I was a kid. Lots more deer, lots more turkeys, plus lots of canada geese now, they were hardly there at all in the old days, and bear too, now, they weren't around at all back then either.
Hope all is well w/ new baby and wife.
To: Corin Stormhands
Thanks... did you see my #10272?... forgot to ping you...

"Also it was very amusing during the first half to see all the surly Democrats not standing up."
I wasn't watching, but I suppose that included my senator, Bob Graham? He may need a letter from me.
They are making choices.
To: Sam Cree
Same is true back in Iowa... my grandpa was a farmer, born in 1909... he didn't see a deer till 1964...
When I was a boy, a wild turkey was a bottle, not somethin' you saw standin 'longside a country road... now you cain't swing a dead cat without hittin' a deer or turkey where I'm from...
Thanks for the concern...
To: g'nad
You mean about the elf with the peach fuzz? Yeah, I saw it.
To: Corin Stormhands
had to be said... just doin' my job...
To: g'nad
I have read that the deer population of the entire U.S. was down to a only few hundred thousand around 1900, but has now increased to over 25,000,000, with the state of Virginia alone having close to a million.

(The Wild Turkey in a bottle is not bad, however.)

... now you cain't swing a dead cat without hittin' a deer or turkey where I'm from... It's bizarre isn't it? Our property backs up to woods, but they're only about 200 yds deep before they run into a four lane road, near an intersection with a major four-lane highway. But we get deer in the yard.
I'm heading to Kentucky tomorrow a.m. Last time I drove there just across the border into WV, I was on the interstate and saw about a dozen wild turkeys just standin' on the side of the road...

That guy looks kind of Spanish w/out his blond tresses.
