Duct Tape Wallets

People often looked at my old wallet in utter disbelief. They couldnt (or wouldnt) believe their eyes. Few ever said anything.
Yes, the wallet was made of silver duct tape. No, its not duct tape covering an old leather wallet, its made completely out of duct tape.
So, Jerry, I know you. There must be a story behind this. Funny you should ask...
Im sitting at the bar in the Red Fish brewpub in Boulder CO. I eat, I drink. When I go to pay my bill, the bartender compliments me on my wallet. It was quite colorful and made of paper. I comment that its time I replace it, but I cant find another one like it and cant bear to give it up. She replies that her roommate makes wallets out of duct tape. Chuckling, I leave her my business card and dont think much about it.
I leave her my business card and dont think much about it. Three weeks later a package arrives at my office. In it is a new duct tape wallet with a note from a complete stranger: the bartenders roommate. I was touched.
You too can own one of these totally kewl wallets. They can be ordered from Cara Hoving.
Believe you me, itll start conversations where ever you go. Ive been at a party and had people pass mine around (yes, it came back with everything intact). Order one for yourself and one to give away as a gift. Needless to say, they last a loooong time.

Apparently, this is serious business and the new fad. I did a search on Google and found a ton of places selling them. They also make duct tape hats (tin foil anybody?)
Here is the google search:

People will buy anything. Another example:
CrashBonsai is the creation of John Rooney, an artist who is torn between the desire to create and destroy. Recently, he has been making bonsai plants, and combining them with model cars and trucks which he has creatively smashed and melted, to create "CrashBonsai," little living car crash sculptures. Available on a limited basis in some Boston area stores, you can see his work by visiting the web gallery. Now through this web site, he is offering his crashed car and truck models to bonsai gardeners who wish to use them as accessories for their own creations, making their own CrashBonsai. You'll find a variety of vehicles in crashed cars, their scales and dimensions listed. Each model is unique, and individually disassembled, cut, melted, filed, smashed, then reassembled to replicate a real fender bender. Some models might work perfectly with a bonsai you already have, but generally you should expect to create a new bonsai around the vehicles, often placing the tree more to the side of a pot to make room for the vehicle. No passengers have been injured in CrashBonsai accidents, although some drivers have reported a brief, even euphoric loss of consciousness. Please note that CrashBonsai models are not just for bonsai alone. They look great on coffee tables, kitchen counters, smashing into lamps and toasters. Please feel free to email any questions prior to ordering. |

The individual who hosts the duct tape wallet page seems like quite a liberal. The homepage is
here and the duct tape wallet page is
here.

I didn't bother to go to the home page, or probably would have not posted this, but the subject is duct tape wallets anyway.
They mentioned duct tape wallets on TV news here, so I wondered if it was on i-net.

Duct tape and WD-40 holds God's universe together, I firmly believe this.
