An observation and I know on this site there will be a tendency to flame away or ignore it. I would instead like to see honest debate of what I have brought up here

Are we at War or is this whole process really more about taking away our rights? Actually, "this whole process" is about making paranoid people write rants about "taking away our rights" every three months or so.
It's like clockwork. It must be a government conspiracy.

Yeap, you got it. 9/11 never actually happened. Actually, the WTC never even existed... it was all a big lie so they could stage its destruction. Now you know how long ago this conspiracy was hatched...

The conspiracy here, is how a certain group of posters always jumps to the defense of the government. And ends up posting right near the top of any anti-government threads...
A search on yourself for example...
Readers should catalog those that do this repeatedly, and ignore their posts.
To: dighton
They don't have to do this, everyone is too content to be stripped of their rights without doing that. They are blatant enough with the abuses mentioned above or do you think all that is "innocent"?

Readers should catalog those that do this repeatedly, and ignore their posts. Many do. Most don't.
"Anti-government threads" usually aren't worth reading.
But, hey, it's a slow night.

First if this was really about war and you respected the Constitutional Republic that we are supposed to be then the following would have occurred on September 12, 2001. 1. The Congress that day would have officially declared war against Al-Qaeda.I can't remember the dates, but I remember that Bush tried to get the Taliban to turn over Al-Qaeda or Bin Laden, treating this as a criminal matter first.
Later Congress did authorize the use of force against those responsible. Supposedly that gave the President the constitutional authority he needed to go after Al-Qaeda.
Perhaps he didn't even need that under the "War Powers Act". 60 days...

I'll not ignore your posts...because you're right. And BTW, did we really go to the moon, or was that about control?
To: Joe Hadenuf
I agree, and it's inordinately clear who they are. So, Joe, howya doin'? Any Messicans peepin' in your windows?

This is NOT what I am saying but why does everyone so blithly accept inaction on critical areas such as I have enumerated. Our borders are still a sieve as pointed out by the likes of Michelle Malkin. She is a sharp lady but why aren't you in the process of bringing up her point to your congressman as an obvious gaping whole in the defense of America??? I have and what I get is a collective shrug? They don't want to seal the border. What would you propose as the reason they refuse to seal the border???

To: Ravenstar
You are s-o-o-o naive. Why, even the President says that we need to leave the borders open so these people can come here and do the jobs that Americans won't do. Just a few steal, murder, and rape. With the new data base that will be formed with the Homeland Defense Department, we will send border patrol with lap-tops to collect data on illegals that they do not see coming across the border.
In this way we will keep tabs on the real terrorists that Saddam Hussein is sending to the United States with WMD's to keep the UN inspectors from finding them in Iraq. Does this sound strange? Have you not heard of virtual unreality that is the latest craze in the techie world of Washington?

60 days has long gone and Congress is supposed to declare war against our enemy which they have not done!

Do I detect a bit of tongue in cheek??

We really are at war. The powerful in Washington recognize that Islamic terrorism is now in a position to destroy the house of cards that the politicians and the bankers have allowed to be built and are desperately attempting to construct a domestic police apparatus for dealing with the violent chaos to come. The War on Terror is as much about preparing for urban conflict in our cities as it is about throttling foreign training camps and the countries that host or support them. I don't think it's so much sinister on the part of the Bush Administration as it is unavoidable. The impending unravelling of the markets and all the anguish that Americans must suffer will leave us prone to accept here-to-fore unthinkable government repression in the name of security. The linchpin of the past--a strong economy--is about to be pulled by the collapse of the banking system, and our enemies are rubbing their hands in anticipation.
