"LoS is a white supremacist organization that doesn't even have the guts to admit it. And it has many, many followers here on FR. Right SSB? LoS is a white supremacist organization that doesn't even have the guts to admit it. And it has many, many followers here on FR. Right SSB?"

Illbay, your comments are just another example of anti-Soouthern bigotry. Your hate filled posts are just another example that the left substitutes "name calling" for intellectual discussion. Call us "white supremacists", or "rascists", and the issues go away.

The League of the South has, and welcomes Black Southern members. We are interested in decentralising governmental power. This is not about "white supremacy". I challange you to contact me. We are building a nation, one person at a time.

For Southern Independencee

The Constitution of the United States was written not because of slavery, but in spite of it.

Wrong.

"Slave property is the only private property in the United States specifically recognized in the Constitution and protected by it."

-- Jefferson Davis.

The way Hood moved Sherman out of Atlanta? Or maybe the way he moved Thomas out of Nashville?

Or maybe the way Lee moved Grant out of Richmond?

Oh wait. Those places are in the United States.

Well, actually I was joking and enjoying the reaction of those "cultured" southerners who betrayed their culture.

As far as I know, there were many contributors to Southern culture, which certainly inlcuded the Celtic, but many others, including much British influence. But then, one cannot ignore the infuence of the Spanish throughout much of the deep south and southwest, Cajun culture is Arcadian French, of all things, and African and Ameircan Indan influences are not exactly minor, as well as ....

(Sorry I do not refer to the Indians as "native Americans." Everyone born in this country is a Native American.)

Even an ignorant Yankee knows something of the rich Southern heritage.

Well you probably know more about southern culture than me.All i knew was that in school(in Australia)we did a bit of study on southern(american)culture and they were drawing the parrallels between their culture and ours...mainly the music, the whole cowboy thing, forms of folk dancing etc.And the root of it being that both cultures were celtic.

and the reason i replied to you is because some people say the same thing about 'Australian culture' being an oxymoron.lol

Good Evening Stainlessbanner.

I'm jumping into this discussion a bit late but I would like to make a few comments with respect to Mr.Zimmermans obvious warped since of defining a person.

As I am new to this forum I'm still adjusting to how things work here with respect to who is posting to who and so on.

The first issue I would like to address is:

Zimmerman Quote: The correct answer is "C," the white activist. He's Johnny Hostler, chair of the A.P. Hill Chapter of Virginia's League of the South.

So do to the fact I'm proud of my Country's (Virginia) heritage I'm termed a "white activist". It's called bigotry.

Here is the letter to the editor in question I sent out on 4/07/02

My response to The recent decision not to declare April

"Confederate History Month"
in Virginia

Our Governor of Virginia seems to have a double standard:
Date: Sun, 07 Apr 2002 20:58:51

I must say that I am truly dishearten by the Governor of The Great State Virginia for his recent decision not to declare April "Confederate History Month", now correct me if I'm wrong here but I believe the State of Virginia along with our nation recently recognized February as "Black
History Month" this would imply that one is better than the other.

Lets define "RACISM", the American Heritage Dictionary 2nd College edition states: The belief that some races are inherently better than others.

The Webster's New World Dictionary 3rd edition states: Racial discrimination or persecution, with persecution being the continuous torment for one's beliefs.

Or maybe we should be looking up "GENOCIDE",
the systematic, planned annihilation of a Race, Political or Cultural Group.

Southerners are through being ashamed, Our brave ancestors didn't fight and die for the institution of slavery. By 1861, the first year of the Confederacy, slavery was already a fading economic practice, and only a very small percentage of landowners were able to afford to keep slaves.

The boys in gray fought for the values expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

They fought for their states, their homes, and principles of limited government. They fought against oppressive tariffs. In fact, they left the union despite Lincoln's promise NOT to interfere with slavery.

Slavery was quite simply never the deciding issue. And let's not forget: it was the NORTH that invaded the South, thus starting the war.

We aren't backing down anymore. The days of one-sided, ignorant, and racist attacks are done. The South is proud of our HERITAGE, HEROES and our FLAGS.

We will honor our heritage, fly our flags, and speak out against the GENOCIDE of our culture.

Virginians to forget our past is to condemn our future!

Johnny Hostler
Chairman
A.P.Hill Chapter
Virginia State LOS

For the record I'm no longer serving in the capacity of Chairman of the A.P.Hill Chapter nor am I a paying supporting member of the LoS.

My factual positions:

Zimmerman Quote: By ignoring or neglecting these facts, we clear the way for white Southerners to airbrush out their own foibles.

I've noticed now that Mr.Zimmerman has at least twice referred to Southroners as the "white southerners" When I speak of Southroners I exclude color for their where and are Southroners of all colors. Mr.Zimmerman seems to be the one with the issue of color here, I'm seeking equality not racial gains.

Zimmerman Quote: According Johnny Hostler's League of the South, for example, the Civil War was not really about slavery; instead, it was a war for Southern independence, modeled after the same principles as the revolution itself: freedom, equality and self-determination.

I challenge Mr.Zimmerman as well as anyone to provide the factual truth to discredit my position that Virginians where fighting to preserve the same principles as the American Revolution itself: FREEDOM, EQUAILY and SELF-DETERMINATION!

Zimmerman Quote: Imagine a high school history class that really debated this proposition. The class would have to examine the origins of slavery in North America; the drafting of the Constitution, which deemed each slave three-fifths of a person; the industrialization of the North; the extension of slavery into the West; the rise of sectionalism in the South; and so on.

Yeah imagine that high schoolers actually being taught factual history as opposed to the revisionist crap their peddling in the system today.

Zimmerman Quote: In a full and fair discussion, I believe, most students would recognize that the defense of slavery was integral -- not incidental -- to the Confederate cause.

Of coarse I disagree. As I detest this stereotypical response from a obvious revisionist!

Zimmerman Quote: Rather than celebrating our respective "cultures," then, let's subject them to analysis and argument in American schools. And may the best argument win.

No, lets rather celebrate all our cultures equally and quite the constant divisions pressed upon us from the U.S.Empire.

" No, cultured Southerners would not have referred to raising and nurturing children as "breeding,""

I beg to differ. It is a term used discretely quite often in referring to poorly mannered people such as those who speak loudly and provocatively in a crowded store.
