Not true. The yankees fired on a confederate ship entering Charleston harbor the day before Beauregard ordered the shelling commenced.

Unless Beauregard had a radio, he knew nothing about it. This incident had nothing to do with the firing on Fort Sumter; that's not even a half truth on your part.

Besides, there is NO WAY that the South would surrender to Northern domination, even in 1864, with the pathetic promise to "return runaway slaves." Most of the Southerners had no slaves to have returned.

Unless Beauregard had a radio, he knew nothing about it. Sure he did. The ship landed after the incident and reports of it got to Beauregard almost immediately.
