For most of them, getting drafted by the Confederacy was the only way they would see their first musket and their first pair of boots. For such exotic and otherwise unobtainable items, why wouldn't they go along?"
Man, that is irrational! White Southerners worked and worked hard, it's the only way they had of living. No one took care of them cradle to grave.
