I'm wondering what your all-time tinfoil or Art Bell-like thread in FR has been. You know, the five thousand words paragraphs, single spaced, no capitals, screed by those expecting the end of the world, the take over of the world by the Illuminati, or the return of Walter Mondale...wait, that may actually happen.
FreeRepublic has been a source of news and commentary, but it also provides information on some of the most unusual topics out there.

My favorite thread was the "Coke is It" thread. If memory serves me...the infamous Quidam was the author. How many Freepers remember that one????

The Clinton Presidency, featuring Monica.
Oh, wait that wasn't tinfoil stuff.........

There's been some pretty insane debates about "Crop Circles" from time to time. People even argue that those who ADMIT to doing it are really lying, and that the Aliens Are Coming... What's even more amazing is that some are gullible enough to think that a few guys with ropes and planks made complex mathmatically precise geometric patterns in the middle of the night without lights and without anyone seeing them...

I emailed that to Art Bell right after I saw the post that night. I got through on the phone lines and told him I was the one who sent it. He was questioning if it was touched up. I told him (and his 20 million listeners) I saw it on FREE REPUBLIC and they could get more info there. My 2 minutes of fame :-)

Just toss water them. No problem.

I like the threads where intelligent, rational, sincere people express the opinion that TWA Flight 800 was shot down by a missile, and all the whacked-out totalitarian numbnut automatons crawl out of the woodwork to say that it was a spontaneously combusting center fuel tank, just like the NTSB and James Kallstrom said.

My favorite is the "GOP killed Wellstone" idiocy.

Hi, Luis. I have participated in my share of tinfoil threads back when Michael Rivero was here. It was all such a hoot about Clinton possibly killing people for political gain, wasn't it? Just ask Vince Foster, Ron Brown, Barbara Alice Wise, Mel Caranahan, and now Sen and Mrs. Wellstone, Admiral Boorda, all those Oklahoma City dead people, all the burned alive and shot Branch Davidians, and all the victims of September 11th.
So funny.
Then there was that silly stuff about Clinton raping women and getting away with it.
Sorry for the sarcasm. Bill Clinton is a killer. So is Hillary Clinton. So are their top Liutenants. I just don't find that something to joke about.
But I enjoyed the Comtrail threads the most. :-)

NO DOUBT THIS COULD BE A FUN THREAD.
But during the busy election time given that Jim Robinson himself has asked us to limit extraneous threads, I think this is exceedingly inappropriate.
We can have enough fun belittling the democruds on standard political threads.
Some time after the election has been certified during low use moments, this would be a fun thread to return to.
Blessings,

The moon landing hoax threads. Soon to be debunked, but the hoaxers won't notice; Oberg will just provide more ammo for them.

Post #43: See what I mean? Boy you sure are brave, posting little nasties behind my back. Are you always such a coward?

Yep, I'm just scared to DEATH of a guy who thinks crop circles are some kind of mystery, so scared, in fact, that I post stuff "behind his back" on a thread on which he is active, and do it right after his snide-but-hilarious post to me.
OH, PLEASE! Don't bust me up by calling me a coward!
Get a grip.

You are probably a sissy. And a coward.
Get a grip.
Get bent.
To: FormerLurker
"Get Bent" AHHH, those long ago days in grade school, how that takes me back...
"Sissy...Coward!"
Funny, YOU're the one calling names over the 'net to someone you've no chance of ever meeting, Pal. Exactly what was I supposed to be afraid OF? (please don't say "ME!" 'cause I'll die laughing...)
