Media dissapointed with Angels Victory

As I surfed back and forth during the World Series, (Hard to watch the 4+ hour marathons in total), I was struck by the Media's infatuation with Barry Bonds. He may be a very good player and he may have ben made better by whatever drug of choice. Fox was so fixated on him that it took away from not only a good team he was on , but a great team in Anaheim. Why does the media exhibit idiot savant behavior with sport individuals playing on a team concept? They usually pick bad boys, Bonds may not be that, but he will not get a Mother Theresa award. I have notice this on several occasions. The camera will always pan to the individual, even though he has nothing to do with the play, like his expression should make a difference. I notice this also last night with Steve Spurrier. A jerk of coach with a jerk of an attitude. Whether its Bonds, Moss, Rodman, or any other media glam-on , it doesa disservice to those other team mates who make up a team. No one probalby ever heard of one angle befor ethe play-offs and that is what makes it so sweet.

You've got that right. I hadn't heard of half of their players, yet I've heard about the entire Giants lineup all season. Sorry to see Dusty didn't win one, but last night was for the Angels

To a great degree, sports has become a soap opera rather than what it should be. You can argue that the media dumbs down the public or that it's the other way around. I guess those debates will go on till the end of time. Still, sports have undoubtedly been Oprahized, that's for sure.

And it looks like the beatification of Barry Bonds will have to be put on hold for another year. Whatever he's taking, the rest of MLB needs to get on, because he's leaving them in his dust.

It was annoying how Fox tried to get certain inappropriate reactions with their choice of cameras.

I can think quickly of 2 examples:

1. After some Angel home run or other success, focusing on the San Fran owners. Like I want to see some glum non-reaction? NO. Show me the some fans, replays, Angel hi-5's. But not the SF owners.

2. When Livan was back in the dugout after some questionable ump calls, the camera caught a very distinct mouthing of Livan's of an 'F-U'. Doesn't exactly make me want to have my kids stay up to watch this.

Yet another example of the senseless Vanities that continue to proliferate. I notice you moved the "Vanity" I had posted decrying the Vanities, to "General." Yet these continue on.

What gives? What are the rules? Is there some threshhold of contribution to FR that allows us to post whatever we want, wherever we want?

If so, what is the threshhold that allows us to move all Vanities to "General" whenever we want? Let me know the amount; I'll try to work it into my budget.

I hate to bring race into it, but the giants are a much "darker" team than the "angels". The giants have bonds, dusty baker, dunston, sanders, as blacks, santiago and aurielia as hispanics. The angels only had a very "white' acting garrett anderson and the molina brothers. On the pitching staff, the angels only had the rookie rodriguez while the giants had hernandez and rodriguez. Plus the term "angels" implies religion. I don't know if dusty baker would have been the first black manager to win a world series, but that would have been a plus. The kids in the giant dugout also feminized the giants a little as the dads were sharing in the kids upbringing.

Like having your kids in the dugout affects the play on the field. I'm sure if it did they wouldn't be allowed there. Did it affect Mark Mcgwire's run at the home run record? No, the media and the fans thought it was a great display of affection,from father to son.
The Giants lost game 6 because they didn't throw the pitches they needed to,plus the Angels can hit!

What was SF thinking letting those children in the dugout and many were OUTSIDE the dugout while players were fouling away at the plate. Can you imagine what would have happpened had one of those foul balls hit one of those children in the head? The mothers should have laid the law down! and one of them was picking up a bat at home plate in one of the games while players were running towards the plate scoring...duhhhhhhh... some of those children were 4,5 years old????

It was just more ego-stroking for the super-star dads. Where were the little rugrats during the regular season? They should have let the regular bat-boys go to the big show.

Well I can understand a proud dad wanting to allow his son to experience the series but there has to be a limit. I think it is ridiculous for these people to bring children that were so young in the dugout. They will have many, many years to have the opportunity to be bat boys.
