The conclusion - after considerable thought - I would draw from the map is this:

The presence of mosques and other places of Islamic worship do not indicate in and of themselves locations where the sniper(s) would seek refuge. I think our sniper would act as directed by the Al Qa'eda handbook and go to a "brother's apartment" (house). The presence of worship centers, however, usually indicates a population nearby that can sustain the center - meaning there would be a substantial number of "brother's apartments" available to spirit these individuals away for a few hours or so.

That's my takeaway.

Thinking out of the box here..... I heard an interview on the IMUS show this morning that got me to thinking ......could this sniper be a hired gun??

It seems the Palies used an IRA sniper against the Israelis.

Here is a story in a British paper that talks about this tactic..
