Kent Hovind was arrested for assault, battery, and burglary on August 15, 2002. Documentation for this can be found online at the Escambia County Florida Clerk of the Circuit Court. The police report can be found within this discussion thread.
Of course this is not the first time Hovind has been in trouble with the law. Many "Skeptic News" readers will be aware of his attempts to evade income taxes via lying and abuse of bankruptcy courts. See the decision of the court.
He is also in a legal dispute with Escambia County for failure to get a building permit. As longtime readers of "Skeptic News" know, he claims to have spent many thousands of dollars fighting a trivial fine.

And perhaps he's more than just a "charlatan"....
Yes, he is. Hovind may be a fool, a charlatan, and an ignoramus, but he is also an intellectual hero for many of the creationists we encounter in these threads. So please, a little more respect is in order.
