I son't understand the problem you and some others are having with the Garand. I've seen thousands of rounds put through them without problems.

They're just better guns out there now.
I have four Garands in different configurations but it's not the first one I would pick up. If you have a good one they are accurate and reliable. If you don't, the clip can eject before all the rounds are fired, the gas cylinder can loosen until your shots start stringing horizonally, the rear sight can loosen so every shot can go higher, the operating rod can be bent and effect accuracy and only eight rounds and you can't top off. I can put a scope on mine with a mount that I made but it's a problem to put on and take off because you have to remove the rear sight.
Go to a High Power match and you'll notice that eventually people start to move up to different rifles.
I love my Garands and have no desire to sell them.
