How to Classify A Democrat
Vote Republican Net ^ | 9/27/2002 | Travis Main

Posted on 09/27/2002 12:03:14 PM PDT by hawkins

I have been involved in a discussion whereas I had considered all Democrats immoral. But based on information I retracted my statement and came to a new classification of Democrats. I have broken down the classification to 5 so far. They are listed below, please provide feedback or additional classifications.

1) Immoral - They know what the party stands for and they still choose to be Democrat.

or

2) Unaware? (Ignorant?) - They have joined the party to join a party and are either:

a) New to the party having never examined politics before and not having done any research into their decision.
b) Been a a member for a long period of time but again never done any research into their decision.
c) Been a long time member, but have not paid attention to their party sufficient that the party has changed and they never continued to examine the party to which they were a part. ex. My grandfather still believed this to be the party of the "working person".

or

3) To lazy to change their party affiliation even if they recognize that many of the party's stances are immoral or in direct opposition to the preservation of this nation. This concerns me that someone would maintain a label that is representative of such a problem. Would an ex KKK member what to maintain the label even if they no longer believed such a thing?

or

4) Liar/Power - A person running under another party platform just to achieve the nomination to office. Ie. They had a better chance to win if they ran in the other party because of votes along party lines. Again, I have an issue with someone maintaining the label of Democrat and what that for which it stands. If their principles are just they should run for the party for which thier principle stands. If they run just to get elected and then vote in favor of other party issues, then essentially they are a liar having decieved the party they ran for because they do not intent to do their job which is represent the people/views which elected them. It seems to me their job should be to represent the party which matches their believes and bust their butts in convincing others of their position.

or

5) Political Victim - Those coerced via external forces in their environment to call themselves Democrat. Ex. The wife who beats her husband such that he is afraid to become a Republican (ex. husband beater Chuck Finley's Wife - not an example of political victim but of huband beating)

or

Am I missing a classification?: Immoral, Ignorant/unaware, lazy, Liar/power, and political victim.

Thoughts? Additional Classifications?

Aha! The mind is turning now. Here would be a sixth classification: DieHard.

6) Diehard: - A person dedicated to their party such that if they are not one of the 5 above, they believe that through their efforts they can change their party back to one of a moral and beneficial to the country nature. Thus, they believe as a conservative, vote as a conservative, yet persistently stick to the label of Democrat even if they feel the shame of their party on their shoulders. (This person might rate better in my estimation that someone like Pat Buchanan who jumped ship).

Well, there is another category: Democratic conservatives with lots of courage. While conservatives (particularly pro-lifers) have been driven out of the national Democratic party, there are some states where some of the most consistently convervative and most strongly prolife elected officials are Democrats. Believe or not, South Dakota is one of those states. Unfortunately (and obviously), these aren't the Democrats we end up sending to Washington, and I do sometimes wonder why our conservative Democrats don't give up and join the Republicans. I think, however, that they still have some hope that their party will come around--at least on certain issues. I was really amused at one campaign event to watch a multi-term Democrat (Rep. Al Waltman) read the riot act to a fellow Democrat who was less-than-solidly prolife. I sure wish we had someone like Al representing us in Washington rather than Johnson and Daschle. A gutsy guy!

hmmm, sounds to me like that example would fit into classification 6) Diehards - They want to change their party back to a conservative one, despite the chance it won't happen.

You forgot stupid. Not ignorant, because ignorance comes of not knowing..stupid comes of believing everything you are told by the left, and not having the mental capacity to question it.. I have an acquaintance like that.. doesnt occur to her to question anything she reads in the papers or sees on Oprah, if it's in the media, it must be true.

I think Terrorist sympathizers falls under the immoral category.

I think goodie is right regarding the term stupid instead of ignorant... sorry I was falling prey to pc tendencies and I heard Daschle was out of Kleenex.

Self destructive, masochists/sadists.
They know their deathstyle choices are wrong, deadly, and how they effect those around them. Instead of change, they punish themselves by going deeper into the darkness. They know they deserve it.
They're angry, bitter, and wish to bring as many happy, productive people down into the pits with them, so that others "may feel ther pain" from the very choices they themselve have made.

Hahah! I like the thought of a Self destructive, masochists/sadists classification, but I must say I think that falls in the immoral classification. Very close though....

Democrats (or "Liberals") fall into two categories: scoundrels (mostly the leaders) and fools.

The Greedy Poor: They are the ones who never pay taxes, but they live off of taxes, and they vote for Democrats who will constantly raise taxes.

The Democratic Party has become a coalition of groups (they don't recognize the concept of the individual) which want government to give them resources or power which they have not earned in any legitimate manner.
