Well, if we don't pay a full tithe, we can't get temple recommends. But as far as a leader coming over to my home and demanding money? No. And there are no collection baskets in church services, there are envelopes that one can hand to the bishop or slide under his office door at the church house. Quite honestly, I have found that if I make paying tithing a priority (that is the first check I write out after each payday), I have an easier time managing my finances.

In my church, they tell people if you can't give cheerfully, you shouldn't give. My church is probably one of the most financially blessed churches on earth. All glory to Him.
