I've been mindboggled that 99% of everything I've read recapping Ed & his sister's interview on H & C was completely off base. I think I must have watched a different interview.

You can say that again. I really don't understand why people choose to ignore things that are so obvious.

What Ed was saying is the police were telling him they didn't want Boylan, and Mark was telling Ed is was his decision, it was his daughter, and Ed decided to go with the request of the police.

FWIW, this is what I heard tonight as well. I also agree that Ed has handled himself as well as could be expected under the enormous stress he has been under. I've got my flame suit on, so all you Ed haters can come and get me.

Yep, or to save the taxpayer's some money, just take him out back and shoot him. :-)

I would voluntarily pay for the bullet.

I have heard of some telling others to "get over it" though.

I think that once something of a violent nature comes to a person, one never forgets.

or gets over it!!

"He might think it is better to be dead than deal with Utah justice Mormon style especially in a Utah prison"

that caught my eye, Bella, because it is surprising to me that so many felons are out and about in Utah.....Ricci by all accounts should have still been in jail..

there seems to be several felons in that famous trailor park...or the "theme park" as someone put it....

Good update story on Ricci, Chief Dinse, etc.: Ricci Critical After Emergency Brain Surgery Aug 28, 2002 9:17 am US/Mountain After a six-hour emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, the top potential suspect in Elizabeth Smart's abduction remained in critical condition Wednesday afternoon. Officials said a blood clot had been removed from Richard Albert Ricci's brain, and pressure on his brain stem had been relieved. The operation began around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Hospital officials said Ricci most likely suffered a spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage. The cause was unknown. He remains on life support. A University Hospital neurosurgeon said it was too early to know whether Ricci, deeply comatose and in grave condition, would live. His prognosis wouldn't be known for 24 to 48 hours, the surgeon said. Salt Lake City Police Chief Rick Dinse said his first reaction upon hearing of Ricci's condition was to swear. ``Clearly, if he does not survive, that would be a big impact on the case,'' Dinse said during a news briefing Wednesday morning. ``I've said from the first, this was an unusual case,'' Dinse said. ``To have another twist come in was exceptional in my experience.'' Ricci, 48, called guards Tuesday evening and told them he had trouble breathing, state Corrections spokesman Jack Ford said. They found Ricci sitting on his bed and while they were talking to him, he passed out. They began resuscitation and he was later flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Ford said. Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Robby Russo said Ricci might have been brain-dead by the time he arrived at the hospital. ``Now, it's too early to tell if he will have brain damage if he survives,'' Russo said. Russo said Ricci's wife, Angela, was with him at the hospital. Hospital officials found no trace of drugs in his blood. Ford said there was no note to indicate suicide found in his cell. Ed Smart pleaded during the news briefing for people to pray. ``This is the most bizarre thing that I ever could have imagined,'' he said. Smart, who has repeatedly said he's certain Ricci had something to do with his daughter's abduction, didn't take questions during the briefing. Afterward, he said his first thought was that Ricci had been poisoned, even though he was being held in a maximum-security cell. Smart said he hoped that should Ricci survive, his near-death experience would ``soften his heart.'' Still, he said, ``we may never learn one thing out of him.'' The former handyman for the Smart family had been in prison on a parole violation on theft and burglary charges but remains at the top of the list of potential suspects in the abduction, Dinse said. The chief said Ricci has lied to police and has refused to answer questions to the investigators' satisfaction. Investigators were no closer to finding the teen than they were on June 5, when a gunman stole her from her bedroom in the middle of the night, Dinse said. Police hope that if Ricci survives, he will be more cooperative. ``He's an individual who generally speaking never volunteered a lot of information,'' Dinse said. ``He has told us things we don't believe are true.'' Ricci has not been charged in relation to Elizabeth's disappearance, and has maintained he had nothing to do with it. But even if there were enough evidence and information to file charges against Ricci in the crime, ``there would be no compelling reason to bring them right now,'' Dinse said. ``We could solve the crime and not find Elizabeth. I don't like to dwell on that.'' Ricci was in court earlier Tuesday. His attorneys asked for more time to review theft charges against their client. Third District Judge Paul Maughan granted the request and a hearing was scheduled for Sept. 17. The theft charges include allegations that he took items from the Smarts' home. Why does Dinse keep saying that this is an "unusual case"??

isn't it very straigth-forward...if you believe a lot of folks here, Ricci did it pure and simple...why does Dinse keep saying its "unusual"..

"unusual" in what way?....if we only knew what Dinse meant....

also, why does Dinse not want to think about solving the case without a body....you mean he hasn't solved the case already?...seriously, aren't some people here saying that the case is solved and Ricci is it ??

I didn't say I support anything

Then why do you post it? I know, so that others can consider it. That would be fine if it had some intellectual content. New ideas that have no foundation or that are based on someone’s prejudiced opinions add absolutely nothing to the discourse here. Of course you are free to post whatever you'd like. Your supporters will congratulate you and tell you how wonderful you are and guys like me will try to point out the flaws in your posts or question your motives. If you find those other threads to be of greater value you could consider spending more of your time there. Cause here, your going to catch it every time you post this ridiculous nonsense and then try to cover yourself by saying that they aren’t your ideas.

I have no idea what or who Danites is. Sorry.

I agree, there is a lot of doubletalk from everyone. If the LE had enough evidence to charge Ricci, they would have done it already.

Maybe it's "unusual" because Ricci is/was involved with someone no one wants to reveal unless ABSOLUTELY necessary or unavoidable.

you know what I can't believe?...I can't believe that not one person in all of Utah or Montana or Nevada or Wyoming...that not one person can tell us about that jeep....

no matter who drove it...it was somewhere, wasn't it.....why no witnesses...

otoh...maybe there are witnesses but Dinse is keeping that info secret for now.

I've thought about this as well. I think that you have to look at the complete time frame between the time the Jeep left Moul's garage until the time it was confiscated by LE.

The first thing to remember is that the vehicle was not noteworthy until after the 14th of June when it was brought to the publics attention. So if we can make the assumption that Ricci and friend were doing some digging on the 8th, then there was almost a full week for people to forget about seeing the vehicle. The best hope would be to ask gas stations to go over their surveillance videos from the 8th of June to see if they could spot any white Jeeps. The odds of a gas station saving it's video for a week seems long. I don't know for sure on this so if someone has any idea how long they keep them please let us know.

While the Jeep was out of Moul's garage it was obviously not kept on the street. Someone would have remembered that a Jeep appeared and disappeared in their neighborhood during the week in question. It was probably in a garage waiting to be pulled out at night to be driven to the Smarts Federal Heights neighborhood.

So to answer your question, I don't think many people saw the Jeep until the 8th when Rick made his long trip. Lots of people saw it on the roads that day, but it was just another vehicle on the road to be forgotten by the next day.
