I think you hit the nail on the head about the media. It is politically incorrect to say anything bad about the VDs, because the media seems all to desperate to make a point that their sex life was irrelevant. Now, had they been Christians (and worse -homeschooling).... oh the gloves would be off big time and the parents would be scrutinized to no end.

Consider the Andrea Yates case. She became a monster, and killed FIVE children - but people said, "Oh, well, mentally ill, whatever". Demon-possessed, more like it.

But in the meantime, you've got all these others along the sides sniping about their Christian household. Didn't they homeschool, too?

If you put both parts together, you get the impression that she was a mentally-ill Christian - and she murdered five children. I'm sure there are several factions out there that would like to reassure everyone that Christians are, indeed, mentally ill.
