Soap and hot water would degrade things after a while, again how much and for how long ?

Add in a sink clenser like "Comet" containing sodium hypoclorides, the DNA will degrade very fast, if not immediately.

Disclaimer: I'm not a micro-biology eggspurt, just a computer dude that knows some chemistry and keeps up with the related stuff.
