Thanx a bunch mouser, that helps so much. But what about blood in her room? How do we explain the lack of it if she was shot with a '22?
I recall being taught that the best weapons for 'defense' would not include 22's....because while they could just "bounce around" inside, they wouldn't cause enough damage to stop a big guy..

Again,just guessng.

could account for that? Naw not possible, but we will never
know for sure because that wasn't investigated.
I have heard tha 22's happen to be a weapon of choice for
professional hit men.

the size is not as important as the placement of the bullet i have shot a 1800 lb horse with a broken leg with a .22 short one in the head it's all over then i have shot a deer weighing maybe 100 lbs with a 30-06 and it up and runs half a mile
