SIGNONSANDIEGO August 14, 2002 The judge in the trial of David Westerfield today allowed reporters to see court log entries of notes from jurors, as well as letters to the judge from the public about the murder of Danielle van Dam. The letters from the public included a variety of theories about the case.
One letter-writer sent the following theory to Judge William Mudd: "Danielle van Dam killed herself.'' A nearly illegible postcard with a Spokane postmark alluded to at least one ex-wife "with a drinking problem (who) lives in Spokane.''

The writer failed to indicate whether the reference was to ex-wives of Westerfield – who has been married and divorced twice – or someone else connected with the case. The postcard was unsigned. Another missive came from a man who referenced another high-profile murder trial – that of O.J. Simpson. "The O.J. Simpson case was a miscarriage of the state's justice mainly because Judge (Lance) Ito was too lenient with the actors defending O.J.,'' the man wrote. There was no news Wednesday afternoon about the status of deliberations, but Mudd announced he was holding a sealed hearing 9:30 a.m. Thursday to consider an unspecified defense motion in the case. Wednesday was the fifth day of deliberations. The prosecution concluded its closing arguments last Thursday. Westerfield is accused of kidnapping 7-year-old Danielle van Dam from her Sabre Springs home and killing her. He could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted of murder with special circumstances. He has also been charged with misdemeanor possession of child pornography. The log entries show that on Friday, the jury requested ``all available evidence of pornographic images'' and a photograph of a teen-age daughter of the defendant's ex-girlfriend.

Do you think computer experts could figure out what was left at the dry cleaners and when? Seeing that ALL of that info is on the ticket, I assume it also is stored in their computer, at least for a while, and should be on backups. If that INFO would have helped the PROSECUTION, they would have gotten it. Since I imagine it would only have proved the LE's planted evidence, you will never see it.

I am a-beginnin' to wonder...thats all one hears is 'going for the "win"'. Do these people have consciences? Good Lord, how could one sleep at night?
Unfortunately UCANSEE2, it does seem that your scenario could be correct.
Someone mentioned before about the .22 cal. casing that was found in her bedroom; that the casing could be a signal that someone knew there was a 'frame up'. Did anyone ever hear anything more on that shell casing? Thats another part of this case that is a 'makes me wonder'..........like soooo much of it.
On another topic, I still think that because N.dGrace was ranting this morning about the jury, that is a GOOD sign for DW!!

"Throw in the real killer(not an oj reference) and DW will be a hero, this whole thing could turn out to be the best thing that ever happenned to him." Payback for the SDPD? The DA? The corrupt judge? The vdams for their sordid lifestyle & pointing the finger at DW?

More like VENGEANCE for DANIELLE. Remember: God works in mysterious ways, and VENGEANCE IS MINE, SAITH THE LORD! Who else could pull off such a perfect plan for the corrupt practices of man?

the vdams a while before calling 911. As someone

were they doing in all that lapsed time?"

Yes BARLF,
why did they dismiss the parents, partiers/swingers, registered sex offenders & the list goes on & on so quickly? DW has only had a DUI, and like I've said before, if there would have been more, you can bank on it, the media would have had it front page news!
It just makes no sense that they looked no further than DW.
I sure hope the jurors can see the inconsistencies in this case!

I have noted a slight switch in the last few days on CTV..has anyone else? The anchors are still jerks but they have balanced the presentation..could it be they were getting some viewer heat? I think they realize that they will alienate a fraction of viewers, if they are completely onesided.
I read about Nancy Grace, on another forum. She makes no bones about her bias, so it shouldn't surprise folks here, that she has one.
She is like Rush Limbaugh. An entertainer.
Anybody who watches Court TV expecting to get neutral reporting, is naive.

Miz, that's one of the reasons I asked about that post from yesterday. Someone mentioned Watkins being at the house at 9 on the 4th, but I knew the testimony, and he said he wasn't there until the 5th. If he was there at 9 pm on the 4th...I believe there was also a screen capture of a porn site that was timed at about 9 pm. Watkins only on cross that he "wasn't at the house at 4 pm" (the time of the other screen capture).
A previous post mentioned Youngflesh, the FBI and Operation Candyman - and there's that kiddie porn/Poway connection again.
