Usually LDS meetinghouses have 3-4 congregations meet in them each Sunday. My schedule for 2002 is 11 am to 2 pm, 2003 it will be 1 pm to 4 pm. I have a sister whose time is 2 pm to 5 pm. It just depends what schedule one is on as to what time we go to church.

Another reply to "afternoon church." That makes sense. Mormons have all those kids to feed & get ready, they need all morning.

Most places have two or more wards (local congregations) who share a building. The first one will go from 9 to 12 and the second from 1 to 4. There will be variations of that if they have three wards using a building. I know of some who have gone from 4 to 7 P.M.

Three hours...

Do you have other meetings during the week, such as Wednesday night prayer meeting?

I've found that getting ready to go to church is a lot easier on the early schedules. The 1 pm start time is a killer, because everyone is doing something and has to stop and get ready to go. Plus, it is naptime, etc for the kids. The early schedule seems to be like getting up and getting everyone ready to go to school and work.
