My father spent his entire adult life in the service of either the Navy or the DOD. He always said don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. Later in life he became disillusioned with what the government had turned the military into (under the last administration). It was very hard for him, he loved his country above all else.

God bless your Dad for his service to our country. The last administration has broken our military. It can be repaired but it will take a long time. I totally understand your father's disillusionment.
