My interpretation. The jurors were not sequestered as they should have been and Mudd knows it.

DUSEK and the rest of the country KNEW how similar it was in MO, and VICINITY that it would prejudice the jury. BUT PREDUJICE THEM for the DEFENSE, so DUSEK and MUDD had to INSTRUCT the jury. ANYTHING that the jury sees that PREDUJICES FOR THE PROSECUTION (like watching CTV or LOCAL NEWS about the CASE) is allowed.
