Yes, it's been a bad year for forest fires in WA, but in 26 years with Seattle FD (retired in 93), I never fought what I would call a forest fire. Of course the last ten years, I served on the Chief's staff, as the departments "Research and Development" officer, so other than operating from a command post, on major fires, I haven't physically fought a fire in about 20 years.

I'm thinking those days might be over. LOL

I'd say you have earned the right to hang up the fire hat! I bet if someone called tho,you would be there in a minute to assist,in anyway possible. The Fire Chief in the small town nearest to us retired a few years ago from his own business, but is always first to answer a fire call. Seems to be in the blood.
