A man sleeping on a beach ended up with a barnacle stuck to his penis.
The 23-year-old had been lying in shallow water to escape the heat in Bor, Yugoslavia.
He had to go to the accident and emergency department of the local hospital after being unable to get rid of the crustacean himself.
Hospital sources say a nurse initially failed to remove it with tweezers.
Daily newspaper Glas Javnosti reports medics only managed to free the barnacle when the embarrassed man got an unplanned erection.
A hospital spokesman said: "We are not allowed to comment on the patients we treat but we would not say that the newspaper report was wrong."

It seems to me that hybridization as a mechanism of speciation is often overlooked...

Not exactly, I just knew neither of you would want to miss it.
OK, I'm lying, it did remind me of you two.

But at least I would qualify for a government research grant.
"The Study of Salt Water Barnacles in a Fresh Water State and their Non-Permanent Adherance to an Expandable Surface."

The guy has taken the idea of "getting crabs" (crustaceans, anyway) to a new level.

There's a show on Broadway this season, Edward Albee's "The Goat." It's about a happily married, successful architect who finds himself having an affair with ... a goat. I had thought Albee was really reaching. Now I may have to reconsider.

Always remember, the vast majority of Aggies do have a BS degree. I was well aware that A&M was full of BS......

But, dear, how can it be full, if you and I are not there?

Thanks for the ping. I doubt this guy's story. I think he was trying to have sex with the barnacle, and the darned barnacle changed its mind at the last minute. As they are known to do.
To: PatrickHenry
As they are known to do. Or so we've all heard, anyway....
To: general_re
Yes, well, uh ... [blush]... I didn't intend to imply that I had first-hand experience.
To: PatrickHenry
That's all right - just wanted to make sure you weren't unintentionally leaving that suggestion dangling out there, so to speak ;)

My immediate thoughts were of Mike Barnicle and Monica Lewinsky.
