A letter to my Son

He was absolutely thrilled when I presented him with a very nice 9x18 Makarov yesterday. A "Circle 10" (Bulgarian) copy of this famous Soviet Block pistol. I was able to pick up three very nice Bulgie Maks last year, for about $125.00 each. I put Makawrap grips on two of them, and the Pearce grips on the third. My wife loves her Mak, I have a great deal of fun with mine, and now my son has his own.

Ammo is surprisingly inexpensive as well, and Barnaul makes a hollow-point round that runs less than $6.00 a box including shipping from Midway and other online ammo brokers.

Even though the East German Maks are supposed to be the best, my three Bulgarians are fine weapons with 100% reliability. Also, even though these are surplus guns, I don't think that any of mine had ever been carried, and if fired, had very few rounds put through them. Yes, they were absolutely packed with a cosmoline like grease, but a bit of cleaning took care of that.

My father also bought me a handgun for my 21st birthday... Mine was/is a S&W .357. Still my favorite. I hope your son will treasure it always!

Course I think there was still drinking later... We left it at home.
