And if Boylan had been brought in when Ed and Lois "begged" her (early in the case) perhaps the sketch that has been produced (according to Ed) would have been done. Now that it has, why not release it? Because the police are still "working" on it? What are they doing? Matting and framing it? Now that Mary Katherine has identified the voice (by whatever means), why hasn't the press covered that? There is a big ol' roadblock here and one of these days something will blast it out of the way and maybe we'll find out the truth.

My sentiments exactly. And I believe the problem is the police. I believe they know who went into the house (I think Ricci was an accomplice and participated in something ugly on Jun 8) but for some reason they don't want us to know. I think there's something really rotten about that but I'm not sure what it is. I also think LE probably recommended to Ed Smart that he not call Boylan in early and that is why the family backed down on it as politically as they could.

Why on earth, would the Police and the F.B.I. tell the family NOT to get a famous artist to NOT do a sketch from what the 9 yr old saw? She was instrumental in the Una Bomber, among other recent big fedral crimes, but they don't want her to talk to a 9 yr. old girl?

After the parents wanted her to? What?

Sister saw suspect on way to parents' room
June 19, 2002 Posted: 9:38 PM EDT (0138 GMT)

"[Mary Catherine] saw the individual, but how good a look she got at his face we are not clarifying," Dinse said.

"She heard the voice and whether she recognizes it or not I'm not going to clarify. We are not putting out a composite [drawing] and we are not clarifying why we are not putting out a composite."

Capt. Scott Atkinson described the suspect as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10, with a medium build and dark hair. He had dark hair on his arms and the back of his hands, Atkinson said.

In addition, he was wearing a polo-brand shirt, tan pants, a tan cap, dark shoes and a light-colored jacket. He was carrying a small handgun, and was calm but concerned that the victim not make any noise that would awaken her family, he said. "We believe that this person may be a trusted person in the neighborhood or in the community. [It] might be someone ... that had reason to be here, that had reason to come across the family, all those kind of things we still believe," Atkinson said.
