This is the fiber comparison photo I keep seeing. Those two fibers do not look the same to me. They don't look like the same color, width, texture, etc. I just don't even know what to think about this photo.

The fiber on the left is definitely orange, and has bright orange streaks running through it. The one on the right is more yellow-y, and doesn't have the same bright orange streaks. In addition, the fiber on the right has long white streaks through it that the fiber on the left doesn't have. The fiber on the left looks narrower and rounder than the fiber on the right, which looks kind of broad and flattened.

If I were examining these fibers for evidence, my first guess would be that they DIDN'T match.

Not to mention that the one on the right is set against a darker background, which would give the fiber itself the appearance of being darker.

I think we're looking at two completely different fibers here. One medium orange, and one light orange/dark yellow.

Also notice the backgrounds are different.

If the fibers were placed on the same background (which One would assume), then it means someone tried to falsify the photos by one of two methods (1)filter on camera or (2)during processing of film.

If the backgrounds are different, same thing really. You cannot do an accurate color comparison with different colored backgrounds.

Ah, we are but common mortals, not affiliated with SDPD.

I know I'm a bit, well, snarky today. PS. I don't think they look the same either.

I agree, and judging from the background change on the right side the red/orange has been turned way up on the right side to make the colors match!

If these two fibers are of the same magnification, they are NOT a match. Most apparent to me is the one on the right has a larger diameter. This is so obvious.

Why is the background color different? That can play an optical illusion with color in the foreground.

Correct me if I am wrong. Doesn't the defense have access to these types of evidence? Is part of the defense's job to check and verify evidence?

Unless I'm hearing this all wrong, I seem to get an implication that the evidence is false, or mis-interpreted. Then, the defense misses the falsification, and/or the mis-interpretation?

Then, the good folks on FR find it? Too bad the good folks at FR didn't get the information to Feldman, in time for him to bring it up on cross-examination.

Or maybe the defense did their job, checked the evidence, found no falsification or mis-interpretation, so didn't bring it up on cross-examination. (Meaning good folks at FR are wrong about this)

In any event, it is probably too late, to re-introduce the topic in sur-rebuttal.
