M. Lee Goff, a professor of forensic sciences in Hawaii, is expected to testify about when Danielle van Dam's body was dumped off a road in Dehesa. The 7-year-old girl was reported missing from her Sabre Springs home on the morning of Feb. 2. Searchers discovered her body on Feb. 27.
Westerfield, 50, is charged with murder, kidnapping and special circumstance allegations that could lead to the death penalty if he's convicted of killing the 7-year-old. He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of child pornography.
Monday, Judge William Mudd rejected another defense request to sequester the jury. But he said jurors could still be sequestered, and he asked the county to prepare a plan in case it becomes necessary.
