To answer a previous question of yours, I think I would have gone after Merry & Pippen. They were probably in the most danger and needed the most immediate assistance. It still would have been a tough decision.

But if Frodo and Sam fail, then saving M&P will be for naught. The whole show will crash and burn anyway. On the other hand, they may be able to sneak in better with fewer footprints. It's a tough one alright!

I think I would have gone after Merry & Pippen. They were probably in the most danger and needed the most immediate assistance. Also, they've been waiting for Frodo to decide all that time. Frodo made his decision to go alone so maybe respect for Frodo helped Aragorn make up his mind to follow the two youner hobbits.
