Man pleads not guilty in porn case

SAN DIEGO ---- A Poway man accused of using the Internet to distribute pictures of himself molesting girls pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges involving five alleged victims.

Brooke Rowland, 40, a salesman for an outdoor advertising company, was ordered held on $2 million bail, the same as his co-defendant Paul Whitmore. Rowland kept his head bowed during his arraignment in Superior Court.

Prosecutors said the two defendants were part of an international pornographic ring in which they exchanged pictures and video of themselves molesting girls with other people on the Internet. The alleged pornography ring was uncovered by a watchdog group in Sweden.

Whitmore, 43, pleaded innocent Wednesday to 23 counts, including committing a lewd act on a child, aggravated sexual assault on a child, using a minor to display obscene matter and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.

Whitmore worked for 14 years at the Stein Education Center in San Diego, which trains children with disabilities such as autism.

The alleged victims in his case were not students at the school, said Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Dort. Superior Court Judge David Szumowski ordered Rowland back to court April 3 for a readiness conference. A preliminary hearing is set for April 10.

WHAT EVERYONE is missing is that these 2 guys were just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG. It says they arrested other people in SD but didn't give their names. Did they even GET THEM ALL, that were involved in this &@!*^#@ RING ??????

ANYONE of their 'CLUB' could have taken Danielle, tortured her, left her to die, say in an abandoned house, then took her out to DEHESA RD when convenient.

Although this trial has captivated us all, and although the testimony and the sordid detail of this case are enthralling, and although everybody is on one side of the fence or the other. The most important element seems to have been lost in the fray. And that element is Danielle. A child has died - whether by foul play, accident or natural causes, a little one is dead. I know that no one means to objectify her or forget her - but that is what is happening. I am just as guilty of this as anyone. In the end, this case is not about swinging, pornography or dirty dancing, it is about a dead child. No matter how seemy the VD's appear, they lost their daughter and now have to listen to this greusome testimony. They may never know the truth about what happened. No matter how creepy DAW may appear, it is possible that they have the wrong perp and if they do - this man's life is over no matter how the trial ends. There is compelling evidence on both sides, albiet mostly circumstantial. But in the end, only one thing matters - a child is dead, and ALL the evidence should be investigated as to be absolutely sure a killer is indeed taken off the streets.

If so, San Diego sounds like SODOM and GOMORRAH.

To me, it sounds like there may be more CHILD MOLESTERS than there are parents in POWAY.

Everyone there and about San Diego needs to be extremely cautious.

I don't think they have caught all of the 'club' members, either.

He cometh like a thief in the middle of the night, and I am beginning to think THAT is right around the corner.

Besides, the orange fiber on Danielle (which matched the fibers in DW's laundry, on his bed, towel in the MH and in his SUV) was tangled within a tangle of her hair on her necklace making accidental transfer virtually impossible.

Thank God for "cyncooper" guys! We almost set a guilty man free. If only cyn was the Judge in this case it would have been over weeks ago.

There are so many more cases around the country that need cyn's insight and ability to solve. Hey, how about cyn for DA!!? Cyn for Gov!?? Cyn for World Ruler!!??? Nah! Tell God to move over, cyn is more omniscient!!

Isn't that the strangest behavior? If a child of mine had gone missing, I don't think buying a new car would be anywhere on the radar! I don't understand how he was ruled out as a suspect so early in the investigation.

The theory is, that the VD's had swingin' pals in Law Enforcement...and, since they didn't want their lifestyle to make mainstream press, they tried to keep things as quiet as possible by deflecting all attention onto DW. Diane Halfman was glued to the VD's hip from the get-go. She's also a retired police officer.

Remember, the VD's are on tape as saying they have "no regrets" about the events of that night. That clip is burned into my mind...I cannot fathom how a parent can have "no regrets" after such a horrible tragedy. Shoot, my daughter stubs her toe, and I blame myself for leaving the ottoman out where she could walk into it.

Rowland appears to be married or was..owned a sign company in the late 90's..(if the correct one)

Last night, Samantha Runnion's lovely Mother was on Larry King. The contrast between this woman and Brenda (and Damon) was glaring.

"Mantha's" Mom was the picture of someone who is suffering so much pain, that to let it all out, would kill her. But it was there..on her face, in her speech, in her demeanor..and her SOUL shined thru all of it. She was the total picture of grief. Watching this beautiful lady, I couldn't help but think how lucky Samantha was to have had HER for her Mother, albeit so briefly.

"Mantha's" mother does not want to look at the man who did this to her daughter, and will do what the LE wants her to do, concerning attendance at the trial. She doesn't blame her Mother, she only wants the word out that we should pay more attention to little children when they say they have been sexually molested. I could go on and on.

TODAY is Samantha's birthday,and her Mother had the Party already planned. She is having the little girls friends over for one LAST birthday party..and I could just cry.

"Happy Birthday Mantha"...may you always live in our hearts.
