A couple of years ago my beloved wife came home and proudly announced that whe just bought a bunch of World Com stock based on a "tip" that she got from a friend at a luncheon. I reminded her that a tip "is an amount of money based on the amount of the bill at a resteraunt, while keeping in mind the level of service received". She did not speak to me for two days. She loved her World Com stock. She coveted it and watched the monthly statements from our Broker and encouraging me to keep the faith her friend could not be wrong. Finally today World Com got its fair share of notoriety. It traded more shares today than any other stock in history, it also dropped from 90 cents or so to .07.

Yea, and we can both sleep in the spare bed room. Wow!!! Why didn't I think of that. So I do not speak to her she gets all PO'ed and goes to sleep in the spare bedroom. It is at the end of the hall, window is double locked, security system on. She can't get out that way. Get some extra asprin for her headache. Naaa.. that will not work. I have tried that before. I have not tried tears. Do tears work? Inquiring minds want to know. Tom

You and I both should buy stock in "BEER".

Great idea, (good logic too). I'm not to familair with the stock market, perhaps I should have my wife pick one :^) and get back to you. LOL!

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, do not do that. My old "Pappy" told me not to let anyone pick out your Water Mellons, our your P----, or your stocks, there are somethings that you deserve to pick out for your self. (Of course I tossed in number 3. But trust me it fits. Tom

Yeah, well, there is that. I'm in the same boat with a different phone company. I can either accept there little BS document that they sent out, get 1/5 of what the stock was worth when they filed, or I can wait for a while and see if there is a class action suit. Granted, attorneys are nothing more than leaches, but I reckon I've already lost, nothing more to lose.

If you got a tea cup, I will send you enough Texas Soil that will greatly exceed in value of the postage it would cost to send it to you. Tom

Well, now there's only one thing to do, kill the friend. Paine & Webber hasn't given me any good advice either.

Hmmmmn.

Ask her to accept her penalty of losing dollars in WorldCom as forgoe the "luncheon" ... what you'll save (in her not paying for lunch for one day) is about what the stock is now worth...

In general, keep the wife (they're hard to retrain), sell the friend, and look long term at the stock.

But another set of whatever the luncheon is worth, then have a good laugh.

Later, drink your beer and curse the darkness.

Oh I know, I was assuming he had more than one share - like one hundred shares = $7.

That really is pathetic though, isn't it. 7 cents a share. The equivalent of a cup of coffee at the Quickie Mart can get you a dozen shares of WorldCom stock.

My how the might have fallen. And it's only going to get worse. I'd suggest those with Lucent, Tyco, Qwest (along with any telecom or telecom supplier) get out while their shares still are worth more than a few dollars a share.

Sell and invest in realestate.

If you got a tea cup, I will send you enough Texas Soil that will greatly exceed in value of the postage it would cost to send it to you. Tom

Oh, I should have been more specific, the realestate I was referring to was somthing that would match the sale of your stock. Like a nice cemetery plot. I hear they are pretty reasonable.

as far as the stocks go, there really isn't all that much you can do with them now...as for your wife, you could always list HER on E-Bay and see where the bidding goes...hopefully over the $7.00 that the WorldCom stock is worth. Good luck!
