Steinbrenner thinks the Yankees have a divine right to win the World Series every year.

No. Steinbrenner thinks that as owner he should do what he can to give the Yankees the best chance to win.

They go out and grab up whomever is available whether they need them or not. Their strategy is to suck the air out of baseball's players market, denying competitors the services of needed players.

Ridiculous. If that were true they would have Scott Rolen and Jeff Kent right now. The Yankees go out and get guys that will help them win.

If Bud Selig is concerned about he "inequity" of competition within MLB, he needs to fold the Yankees, not the Twins and Expos.

Again, ridiculous, but at least close to reality. The major problem in baseball is between large market and small market teams. Something needs to be done to make it more fair. Salary cap, or luxury tax, or revenue sharing (probably the best option.) But you can't blame George for doing what he can to win. What's he supposed to do? Not try?

True, but I look at the Lakers as an example of a team that goes out to win while at the same time maintaining a respect for the system that they play under. Even as 3-time champs, they have avoided the luxury tax, in fact, their team salary lies in the low-mid range of the league while teams like the Trailblazers and the Knicks try to buy a championship with massive payrolls.

Up until recently, I counted the Yankees as such a team but their payroll now is obscene, they are making no bones about abusing the system and trying to buy their way into championships. Fortunately, it doesn't usually work. OTOH, I kinda chuckle at them getting Mondesi, a consistently underperforming player who has yet (and probably never will) reach his potential (but costs lots and lots of $$$$).

I guess Sammy Sosa or Barry Bonds weren't available.

Hey, maybe A-Rod can play outfield!

I am just curious as to why everyone says baseball is broken now, when they weren't saying this 25 years ago. Or 50 years ago. Or 75 years ago.

Because the Yankees have always been the Yankees. And they have always had more resources.

If the nation fell in love with baseball during that time, why would we think it is broken now?

But clearly people do think that it is. And I have not quite understood why.
