After another Laker championship that resulted in only the fifth threepeat champion in NBA history, I thought about all the great players that have worn a Laker uniform. Then I came up with an idea. What would be the best team of players that I could up using only Laker players. Here's my All Time Laker Team:
Starters
Center - Shaquille O'Neal 7'1", 345
Power Forward - Wilt Chamberlain 7'1", 275
Small Forward - James Worthy 6'9", 225
Shooting Guard - Jerry West 6'3", 180
Point Guard - Magic Johnson 6'9", 225
2nd String
Center - Kareem A.-Jabbar 7'2", 267
Power Forward - George Mikan 6'11", 245
Small Forward - Elgin Baylor 6'7", 225
Shooting Guard - Byron Scott 6'4", 200
Point Guard - Kobe Bryant 6'7", 210
Bench Warmers
Guard - Gail Goodrich 6'1", 170
Guard - Michael Cooper 6'7", 176
Anybody have a better Laker team to rival mine? How about a team made up of only Celtic players, or any other team? I challenge you to find a better team than I have put together.
No, Chick gave him the nickame when he was on the Lakers. Maybe he had that average at one point of the season, or during the 33 game win streak, I dunno. Take it up with Chick!
So in baseball, if the batter walks out to the mound and punches the pitcher because he is throwing really good strikes and the umps call an error on the pitcher, your Ok with that? If a football player jumps offsides and hits another player who draws a holding call when he falls, you are OK with that because football is a physical game? The Lakers didn't win because they are the best. They won because they cheated. I'm amazed at Laker fans who seem to be as blind as the refs. Cheating should never be condoned or excused.
LOL! I agree with you that cheating should not be allowed. So, you better keep Floppy Divac off your team, because he is the number 1 flopper in the NBA. They should give him an Academy Award.
Furthermore, all your friends on the Queens would foul out before the second half if every foul was called. They hammered Shaq every time he got the ball, just like any other team does.
By the way, did you see Game 5? That was the biggest travesty, not only of the series, but the year. You're right, this series should not have gone 7 games. The Lakers should have won in 6, if they weren't screwed in Game 5.

Yes. I think games 5 and 6 offset themselves. I agree that the officiating was really bad the whole series, and when your team loses a close series after really bad calls in a game, it's hard to accept. I do think the calls balanced themselves out over the whole series, though.
I went through the same thing myself, when the Lakers continuously lost to the Celtics. Those were really nasty players. However, I've found that once a team goes through all the obstacles, including problems with officiating, their time comes if they have persistence and learn from the defeats.
NBA?
