The World Cup football finals continue Monday in South Korea and Japan with two more second round, single elimination games.
The United States plays Mexico in South Korea. The two teams have faced each other numerous times in regional competition. Four-time World Cup champion Brazil will play Belgium in Japan as those teams also play for a quarterfinal berth.
In action Sunday, Spain defeated Ireland, 3-2, on penalty kicks to join Senegal in advancing. Ireland made only two of its five penalty kick chances following two scoreless overtime sessions, while Spain converted on three for the razor thin win in South Korea.
Senegal advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Sweden, 2-1, on a "golden goal" by striker Henri Camara in the 104th minute, during the first sudden-death overtime period. It was only the second overtime goal to decide a World Cup match.
