There are reasons to not make these kind of explanations all the time though. Let's say that you explain "I banned him because he is a racist". Then Jim gets a letter from a lawyer saying that his client has been harmed by a statement of libel. Or you get people starting to sign up specifically to turn "explanation" threads into circuses.
We are discouraged from doing what I have done on this thread. However, when it is clear to me that someone is playing the "let's try to destroy FR from the inside" game, I don't hesitate to change tactics.
I can see that also.. never really thought about it like that, but I can see where someone could cry to an attorney about liable or whatever.
Of course, my response would normally be someting like: "Ohhh, but who is childish enough to actually go and do that?"
THEN, I remembered Eschior and it all became clear..
