How do I stand it? It's actually a great place to work. One thing a lot of people don't realize about the newspaper industry is how completely separate the business side is from the news side, especially in their cultures. I've worked at three newspapers, and in every case the business side folks were pretty much moderate-to-conservative no matter how intensely left-wing the editorial slant of the publication was.

As far as impact, I assume you're talking about any possible impact a conservative such as myself might have what shows up on the editorial page or in the slant of the news. Zero. As a marketing guy, my input on those areas would be quite unwelcome no matter what political position I was advocating. 90% of the work I do is with advertising sales people. If you know anyone involved with advertising, they'll tell you about the hissy fits that journalists will throw if they perceive that ad folks are tying to influence the editorial product in any way.
