After the United States soccer team's shocking defeat of Portugal on Thursday in the World Cup, I would like to find out who will be watching the U.S. play South Korea on Monday morning? The match is on at 1:20 a.m. central time on ESPN2(fire up the coffee maker).

I did not get up to watch the Portugal match because I was not too confident in the U.S.'s chances but I am starting to turn into a believer. I will be watching this one live. It was very surprising that about 1 million people in the United States watched the U.S.-Portugal game last Wednesday at 4 o'clock in the morning. GO USA!!!

When the star players come from the University of Georgia and are named Bubba, I'll watch.

Wow the NBA championship has been nothing but thrilling (YAWN!). NBA ratings are at an all time low and will go lower because nobody wants to watch a bunch of ganster thugs trash talk and make millions. As for baseball give me a break, those spoiled lazy roid ragers will have a work stoppage coming up very soon because they are greedy and spoiled. The national past time is way past its prime.

It seems like the NBA is fixed! Did you see game 6 of Lakers and Kings? Kings had that game won! Well, there's no point in watching the finals if the League and NBC wants the Lakers to win every year for "higher ratings". I'm not going to watch it this year.

I can't believe it, but I might watch soccer a bit, if it does not bore me too much. I might be surprised, it could be better than National Past Its Time, and NBA Playoffs. But I'm not going to bet on it.

If soccer were a sport, I might watch it. Soccer was invented so third world countries could play a game too. The main reason is that all you really need is a ball. Before you soccer heads go off on me, I don't consider baseball a sport any more either. First, you spend half of the game sitting down and watching. Then you go out into the field to participate and you stand around waiting for the ball to eventually come to you. Then you take most of the year off to spend your millions of dollars. Don't even get me started on GOLF: Any game where you try and achieve the LOWEST score is not a sport. I have more examples...but this is going off topic.

King of the Hill is a great show, imagine the US getting to the 'Great 8' of a Tournament that most of the people in our country do not know a lot about.

You missed some words out!

In America it has been a total failure as a professional sport.

Not bragging. I might be the only person in America to have seen every live game available on TV. I have recorded each. I just love pure football. I have done this for the last 3 events, 12 year.

Ok, there are some bummer games, but the good ones I have on tape are priceless.

Agree with you about soccer being a failure as a professional sport in America. It has not been marketed right and it has also had a difficult time competing with dollars and attendance from other "American" sports.

As for your opinion on soccer, most people who are not very knowledgeable on the sport are the one's bashing it. Soccer has been very good to me. I have traveled internationally to over 20 nations playing soccer and it payed for my college tuition (athletic scholarship). If you saw me you probably wouldn't call me a "fag" for playing it (I played at 6'1" 215 7% bodyfat). Soccer is one of the most physical sports out there. Second most injury prone sports in the NCAA behind wrestling (football being 3rd). I have broken ankles, have a torn medial meniscus, torn medial collateral, 14 stitches under my eye, broken big toe, broken tail bone and many other bumps and bruises from the game of soccer.

I understand your opinion on soccer. If I didn't understand the sport I would probably have the same attitude. I don't like watching MLS soccer but when the World Cup comes around every 4 years I definitely will watch it.

Actually, more than 1 million people watched. The article says 998,000 households.

My guess is that the people in 997,995 of those households fell asleep in front of their TV watching Leno or Letterman and the TV was on when the soccer match started.

"FAG BALL"?? LOL!

And how about a 'Top (Y-A-W-N) Ten' scoring list? Rodrigues - 2 goals, McNaulty - 1 goal, Montoya - 1 goal, Pepino - 1 post...

Prediction: US 3, S. Korea 1

South Korea is nothing more than a good club team. They are not good enough to go out individually to the European or other leagues or they would.

Tomorrow, it will be all over the papers, US makes the sweet 16. Take it to the bank.

Columbus Crew stadium is open free to watch on the big screen. They had 3000 for the Portugal match. All concessions available except beer.
