Is Paramount guilty of putting a subliminal message in New Enterprise Series
self
Posted on 06/07/2002 10:33:29 AM PDT by Paul C. Jesup
It seems Paramount is guilty of slipping a subliminal message into the Enterprise Series itself.
This message is not in the foreground, like the UPN logo/symbol on the lower right part of the television.
This message is in the background of the picture itself, in clear/white bold. The message is:
Technical operations center
Stage 30
Hollywood California
Paramount Television
The New Enterprise Series is becoming a decent-to-good Sci-Fi show. And at the very least, superimposing this image in the background itself, ruins the quality on the picture and experience of watching the show itself.

I did a google search on this and could not find anyone talking about this.
If you don't believe what I am saying; next time Enterprise comes on in your area, watch it and take a look at the background. You will see the message, especially in the darker shaded scenes.

Care to explain exactly what they are supposed to be subliminally implanting here?

I typed the message in bold in the first post.
To: Paul C. Jesup
I saw that but what is it supposed to mean? Aside from identifying where the series is being produced, I mean.
Technical operations center
Stage 30
Hollywood California
Paramount Television
Does not exactly send cold chills up my spine and I am fairly sure that it is not influencing me to go have a coke and popcorn (large). Unless you are annoyed at them messing up the picture for you. (like that Censored TNT logo that blocks out part of the screen and covers up important little details needed to advance the plot)
In which case, let me grab my torch and pitchfork.

I guess I am going to have to spell it out for you.
The image of the message image RUINS the quality of the picture as the Enterprise Episodes are playing. And it takes away from the enjoyment of watching that series.
That is what I was trying to point out.
Do you have a problem with that?
To: Paul C. Jesup
I used to work in a TV station and what this most likely is comes from syndication distribution - they put up the graphic slate to indacte the source of the program - having those graphics showing all the time is most likely a technical problem during the syndication feed; and what you are also seeing is poor quality control practiced by the station you are watching. Paramount most likely was notified of this problem, and sceduled re-feeds of the episode - and your station failed to get it. Complain to them.
To: Paul C. Jesup
No. No problem. Good luck in your fight.

And who do I report this problem to?
To: another cricket
This isn't not a fight. I am just making an observation about what I saw on television.
To: Paul C. Jesup
If it's visible, it's not subliminal. If it's subliminal it's not visible.

Try the Program Manager, or Chief Engineer.

Stop using circular logic.
To: Paul C. Jesup
It was the "subliminal message" bit that threw me. At least you now have an answer on what is the cause and where to complain to get it resolved.

Subliminal is a word that means below threshold. Below threshold there is no perception.
Stop using words inappropriately.

(sarcasm) I'm sorry, but I did not know you were and expert on the subject.

Complaining does not solve anything. I am now trying to find out exactly who to contact and politily inform them on what is happening.
To: Paul C. Jesup
You seem determined to take offense. Just what I would have expected from a Trekie!
There, now you have something real to take offense at.
I am nothing if not accommodating.
Have a nice day, Mr. Jesup!

Actually, from what I hear, most die-hard Trekies hate the new Enterprise series.
Also you have been childishly antagonistic towards me since your first reply to me.
I don't care what your problem is. But don't take it out on me.
To: Paul C. Jesup
I have no idea what burr got under your saddle. I was trying to understand why you were so upset and what the, as you call it, "subliminal message" was.
I am trying to figure out how that was "childishly antagonistic."
I guess my antagonism must have been subliminal because I can't see it. I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you had a bad week?
Be that as it may, I will, you may be assured, attempt to avoid you in the future.
Goodbye.
