Bill Clinton will play his saxophone to encourage people to vote.

The former US president will reprise his act to raise funds for the Democratic Party and encourage its voters to register.

Mr Clinton will play star alongside Michael Jackson and Tony Bennett at next month's event at Harlem's Apollo Theatre, New York.

The event, co-hosted by actors Cicely Tyson and Chris Tucker, will raise around $2.5 million for Every Vote Counts, the Democratic Party's national voter registration drive.

It is to be the first of a series of similar fundraisers around the country, Democratic National Committee officials said.

The legendary Apollo Theatre is located in the heart of New York's Harlem neighbourhood, just down the street from Mr Clinton's office, where he is penning his presidential memoirs.
