As for whether it's proper for states to recognize sex changes done in other states, it would seem that absent federal legislation the full faith and credit clause would apply to such things if recognized judicially in any state.

I'm a little confused here - what's to recognize? Are you saying that if I can go to SF and get someone to write on my driver's license that I'm a female and then I go to Alabama and go into the women's restroom that the state should protect me from the public lynching I would undoubtedly be subject to?
