I have a friend who is a newly converted conservative, but still has his old leftist instincts and doesn't see how we can spend money on space when we should be spending it on poverty. He hasn't figured out that the state messing with poverty has only made it much worse and threatens to make it permanent. Space exploration, though, will probably cause unimaginable benefits.

Well then all we need to do is figure out how to get some poor people up to the moon then we can get the government to spend all the money we want on colonizing the moon. Hhmm, I wonder what lunar section 8 housing would look like? *shudder*
