Important for a trail rider, and also important for pilot! I had a full year of meteorology in college. Everyone's weather is interesting... yours is interesting for your hurricanes.... unbelievably powerful and amazing storms. Ours is interesting because it is hard to predict, constantly changable. I like to read the sky... and see signs of what is to come. I still look at a sky and rate it in catagories of visibility and turbulence without even thinking about it!

Yes, I think, after awhile, awareness of weather kind of becomes second nature.
South Florida weather has fairly predictable patterns, watching them is fun...strangely, our prevailing winds are easterlies, I think this is kind of unique in the U.S., everywhere else I believe, an easterly is a precursor of a front.
I am pretty impressed with your meteorology schooling.
