I want to buy FoTR on DVD, but it seems like there are a number of different versions out there. Since I only want one copy, which would you suggest is the best to get?

I would probably advise you, since you've held off this long, to hold off til Tuesday. Whoah, I suppose if I left it there you could take "til" to mean that you don't get it until Tuesday, and then you still don't get after Tuesday. Then you would have Perpetual FOTR-lessness. ;^)

Pick up the Special Edition, unless you are really wedded to a pure copy of the theatrical version.
