Come to find out later on, he's a deacon...high up in the church "leadership" and a bigwig on TV (which I never watch tv, you know).Still no excuse for his behavior. Do the Deacons run your church, or is the Pastor in charge? With that outburst the guy forfeited his ability to be a deacon, at least if you want to maintain the standards set forth in I Timothy 3:1-13.
If the Pastor won't correct the situation, then it may be time to move on to a different church. That's a hard decision to make.

He's not the Sunday school teacher, he's just another person in the class. Steve talked to our teacher and told him to let the guy know not to speak with me again.
This church is gigantic. It has many smaller groups within the large group and you find your group and where you fit in. I fit in with the homeschool support group and the president actually got quite a kick out of what I said (when I critised the mental health industry) because she knew the guy was getting an earful! She told me who he was after class and she was obviously tickled.
The people are supposed to run the church...everything is put to a vote. I think our Sunday school teacher might speak to the pastor and he might intervene...but I really hope he doesn't because I don't know the pastor personally and he doesn't know me at all. The Sunday school teacher is who I deal with mostly.
I wouldn't even go to this church if it wasn't for the kids (because I could still belong to the homeschool group, even belonging to another church). But the children's ministry is wonderful and their leadership is fantastic. The kids love church and look forward to going ever weekend.
I told Steve I wanted to just go to the library and work during the Sunday school hour and he said he'd miss me if I did. So I need to decide what to do.
