Since I work at home, my home office is the most important part of the house. It is now 75% of my living room... and the TV, my only TV, is in here too. I sit here all day, and can't imagine wanting to do that unless I was in front of my picture window where I can look out on the horses. I have a spare bedroom, but the windows point the wrong direction.
But as a single person, my whole life can be in the living room: office, couch, TV, saddle rack. I don't have a spouse that would make a face at such things.

But as a single person, my whole life can be in the living room: 2 1/2 years ago, we had our house all "together." Downstairs was a country kitchen/den, a formal living room, formal dining room and a half bath. Upstairs was 4 bedrooms(one for the Mrs. and me and one for Corin, Jr.), one office and one guest room.
Now that Corin III is here, we lost the upstairs office to his room. So downstairs is now a country kitchen, office and living room/playroom. We gave up on having the magazine look. We'll get that back when he's a teenager and won't come out of his room...
Later.
