Are any of the additional things included in the VHS? - I would have assumed they would be.

I have a very square TV so I lose a lot of size by choosing the wide screen, but I did... Our local talk radio station has a guy from Hollywood on every morning to talk about the latest releases. He said this morning that if you get the DVD you should pick up the wide screened tv on the way home...

No... it's just the movie. There is an ad for the Two Towers video game... but other than that it's just the movie.

Same here. Solved it (in a way) by sitting on the floor in front of the couch, thus getting a little closer. 'Course the dogs then all got on the couch while the kids and me watched the movie from the floor...wife came in, saw that, and gave us the strangest look.
