I think the difference was in the amount consumed (a lot), and the ultimate goal (passing out). This wasn't drinking at parties and such... this was just drinking, alone in a dorm room, or with your roommate, or a few friends. There were parties too, of course, but even then the goal wasn't to have fun, or meet the opposite sex... they all just wanted to get blitzed. It was the only way they had to release the tension of the week. It was a very demanding engineering school.

Yeah - but that is what we did too... our little gang in a dorm room... playin' quarters for shots of tequila till somebody went down. hehehehe. ugh! Hurts to think of it.
