Well, Warren Buffet says, "you can't do good business with bad people." 'Course I've decided he's kind of a jerk, too.

I try to just enjoy their work if they are good at it, and not feel I have to buy into the whole life of the actors, any more than I quiz my toilet paper (throwback from earlier conversation on Ben and Jerry's).

Once in a great while a personality grabs me, and I will go out of my way to hear them talk outside their roles... But I usually just don't care. Elijah Wood is one of those. I see every indication he is a really nice kid all the way through, and I seek his candid appearances. But his personal life could tank tomorrow and I would still love his Frodo.

I can truly love performances done by people I may find annoying, or just not bother to listen to outside their roles. I will always love On Golden Pond, for example. For that matter, I loved Hunt For Red October. Perhaps the actors that are truly good at what they do, such as Ian McKellan and Jane Fonda, can make me forget who they are, and perhaps I just really don't care. If I tried to care, I would be constantly disappointed.
