There're some strange folks about.

You got that right. When I had read the original story I confess I felt badly for the hypnotist, wondering how she was going to make out. I was glad to read some fellow Austinites pitched in to help her. While Austin is a liberal hotbed, one of the things I like about living in this town is the air of weirdness that permeates it.

A guy around here is supposed to be building a rocket in his backyard

I've read or seen a story about a guy doing that, but I don't remember where he was located... may have been a different guy. It sort of reminds me of the story of the guy who tied a bunch of helium balloons to his lawn chair and took off for a jaunt at 16,000 feet over Los Angeles....
