I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.
For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

That's why you should do it now! Look, most of the participants don't finish. I don't know if I can. C'mon, just give it a try, ok? You can sign up and then not write a word, if you like.
Who else... Hair? OT? Ksen? Any of you harbor secret "I wanna be a writer" notions? It's not as hard as it looks, you know. We can write dreck about horse-farming Elf-hunting North Dakota fishermen and no-one will care!

Yep, if klez gets past your email you can pretty much write your system off... it infects the boot sector, so that when you reboot it destroys your system. And, since it's in the boot sector, a simple reformat won't get rid of it, which is why you have to use the debug command to do a low-level format to get rid of it.

I don't harbor any secret "I wanna be a writer" notions!
I love watching stuff that is.... And I love the stories of others... but I have never wanted to make up my own!
I have been more drawn to the other arts.... I have painted, and taken artistic photographs...

How many double-space pages, round-about, is 50,000 words?

Oh! I know! Jen can write the books and Hair can illustrate them. Hair could be the next Boris Vallejo(?).

Thank you for posting that! It's a rather sad and thoughtful piece, I think... and every time I read it I have to imagine the author sitting beside his fire, thinking... and writing that poem.
To: ksen
Um... well, depends on your font. I think it's around 175 - that's what the site says. It's really a novella length, not a novel, if that makes you feel better.

I'll go to their website and check it out, I promise.
Truthfully, I don't know if I have anything 50,000 words long in my mind right now! But I will think about it.

I don't think the point is to have a complete, polished 50,000 word manuscript. The point is to blab on paper until you reach 50,000 words.
Is that about right Jen?

I just scanned part of one of my paintings that is hanging on my wall... It is too big for the whole thing to fit on my scanner, but here is the main part of it!
It is called "rained out"

heh... I didn't say I was good.... I said I had painted....

That's beautiful Hair.
You can tell how much that the dog loves the little boy. You can almost see him sidling up to the boy, trying to cheer the boy up by his presence.

I like it!

Hair, I like it, the lab seems the right dog for the scene. For some reason the field across the way reads like a cemetery to me.

It is actually one of the only ones where I tried to paint people or animals that survived long enough to dry.... They are hard. I usually did landscapes... But I found that I didn't really want any of the places in my house either... I haven't saved very many of them.

By the way, that writing group I mentioned who did the 3-day novels has a website...
Clockwork Storybook. Most of their stuff is PG to R rated, I guess... but I like it. Anyway, the group is disbanded, and I don't know how long the website will still be there, but if you go into the Archives section and search by author you can find the 3-day novels that are still there, as well as the authors contest journals. It's pretty neat!

hehehe well, it is supposed to be dark and sad outside ;~D so I guess the mood is OK... but is just supposed to be a back yard!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Thanks Bear! I can't find anything in the news that interests me.... I am gonna go to bed!
Good night everyone!
To: HairOfTheDog
You're welcome!
Will be going to bed here soon too... finally got the bulk of my files uploaded to my new webhosting service, tomorrow I get to work on the CGI files until they work....
